Abstract

The present study shed the light on one of the most important regions of Egypt (South Sinai). It was carried out to cover three main topics, south Sinai. Three different localities namely wade farina and Wade El-South Sinai representing different altitudes and deferent habitat structure (cultivated and arid habitat).
Spiders were collected using pitfall traps in addition to some other methods like sweeping nets and hand collection of zoology Department, Faculty of Science, Suez Canal University and the Egyptaion British biological society(EBBSoc).
A-Taxonomy
This study aimed to identify the different spiders’ families located in the study area and their represntaive genera and species. In addition, the families, genera and species. The taxonomic description of the recorder spiders and their distribution as well as producing a check list for the recorded genera and species were fundamental aims of this part of the study. The taxonomic study could be summarized into the following:
1. nineteen spiders’ families were recorded out of a total number of twenty-mine families recorded in Sinai. The recorded families belongs to two sub-ordersa)Sub-order mygalomorphae, that was represented by one family(family:theraphoside).(b) Sub-family:Aranediea that include the remaning eighteen families collected(Oecobiidae, filistaidae, Ereside, Sicariidae, Scytodidae, Dysderidae, Zodariidae, Salticidae, Sparassidae, thomisidae, philodromidae, Gnaphosidae, liocrandiae, hersiliidae, Oxyopidae, theridiidae, Lycosidae and Araneidae).
2. thirty-one genera were identified out of fifty-eight recorded from Sinai.eight of these genera were identified to the species level;each of them was represented by one species. All genera and species recorded were included in a checklist.
3. Nine genera were recorded for the first time is Sinai during this study namely: Chaetopelma (family: theraphosidae), Araneus.
