Abstract

The Study Aims TO Non-motor symptoms (NMSs) are increasingly recognized as core features of dystonia that occur alongside the characteristic involuntary muscle contractions and postures. Historically these NMSs have received relatively little research and clinical attention, but emerging evidence demonstrates that neuropsychiatric issues like depression and anxiety profoundly undermine health-related quality of life in people living with dystonia. This study aimed to extensively characterize the range of NMSs using standardized rating scales and detailed examinations as well as assess certain motor consequences of dystonia like balance and gait impairments and abnormalities in eye movements. The overarching goal was to elucidate the multidimensional symptomatology of dystonia in order to inform more holistic, biopsychosocial models of care that.
