Abstract

Failure of Weaning is defined as inability to stop the patients from using mechanical ventilator. So, the term of weaning failure correlates with failure of a spontaneous breathing trial or the need to resume using the mechanical ventilator within 48 hour up to seven days after extubation.
Failure of Weaning is leading to increase lengths of stay in intensive care units and mortality rates. So identifying causes of failure is important. One of the causes is diaphragm dysfunction which associated with poor prognosis during weaning from mechanical ventilation.
