Abstract

Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) remains the leading cause of maternal death worldwide despite its often-preventable nature. Tool: Data were collected using two tools (structured interview schedule & nurses knowledge about postpartum hemorrhage and observational checklist. Results of this study shows that, One tenth of maternity nurses had good knowledge & more than half had poor knowledge , less than one third of maternity nurses had correct performance & more than two thirds had incorrect performance about PPH before implementing educational sessions. While, become more than two thirds had a good knowledge & one tenth had poor knowledge, three quarters had correct performance & one quarter had incorrect performance after implementation of educational sessions. This study concluded that there was an obvious lack of nurses knowledge related to prevention of PPH as well as unsatisfactory performance before implementing of sessions compared to after implementation.
