Abstract

The thesis represents an integrated geological, geochemical, and petrophysical study for the Paleozoic rocks. The study area locates in the north western part of the Western Desert parallel to the Eastern Libyan border and extends from 29o 56/ N to 31o22/ N, and from 25o4/ E to 25o32/ E. The study area includes seven wells (Halafaya-1, Faghur-1, NWD-302, Faghur-W-1, SA-1X, Sifa-1, and Faghur-4). These wells were used for a comprehensive study of Paleozoic rocks in the selected area.
The Paleozoic succession was subdivided into two main groups. The lower one is the Siwa group which includes Shifah, Kohla, and Basur formations, while the upper one is Faghur group, which includes Zeitoun, Desouqy, and Dhiffah formations.
