Abstract Summary and Conclusion The present work was performed to study the effect of apocynin on unilateral testicular I\R in rats The present work was carried out on (30) male rats. The rats were divided into three groups (group I): Sham operated group (10 rats): Under intraperitoneal injection of mixture of ketamine (100 mg/kg), delivery of the left testis without twisting and the testis was relocated into the scrotum. (group II): I/R group (10 rats): Anesthesia was given as in group I then delivery of the left testis. Testicular torsion was done by rotating the left testis 720° anti clockwise direction and the incision was closed. The rats of this group were injected intraperitoneally by a single dose of 10 ml normal saline solution. (group III): Apocynin treated group (10 rats): The same surgical procedure was done as in group II, in addition, these rats were injected intraperitoneally by a single dose of apocynin at a dose of 20 mg/Kg dissolved in 10m/kg normal saline 1/2 an hour before the detorsion. At the end of the experiment, the animals will be sacrificed by cervical decapitation. The collected blood samples will be centrifuged at 3000 rpm for 10 minutes in order to obtain the serum. The serum samples was kept at -80°C for analysis of the following parameters: - free testosterone level. - Serum FSH level. |
