Abstract The thesis comprises mainly three chapters, which are described as follows :- I . Introduction :- In this chapter, a literature survey is made on :- 1-1. The importance of antipyrine derivatives and their metal complexes. - 1-2. Metal complexes of Schiff bases derived from 4- aminoantipyrine and 4- formylantipyrine. - II. Experimental:- In this chapter, the methods used for preparation of N,N’ -ethylene¬bis- (4-formylantipyrineimine) (L1), N,N’- propylene bis {4-fonnylan¬tipyrineimine) (L 2) and N,N’ -pentane bis (4- formylantipy-rineimine) (L3) and their copper(II), cobalt(II) and nickel(II) complexes are described. The techniques of elemental analysis, molar conductivities, magnetic susceptibility measurements and spectral studies (IR,U.V, Vis, ’n N.M.R) and thermal studies (TGA) are described. - III. Results and Discussion:- In This chapter the results of complexes of cobalt(Il), nickel(II) and copper(II) with N,N’ -ethylene bis (4- formylantipyrineimine) (L I), N,N’¬propylene bis (4-formylantipyrineimine) (L 2) and N,N’ - pentane bis (4¬formylantipyrine-imine) (L3) have been described and discussed . The chemical structures of the prepared ligands and their metal complexes have been elucidated using spectral CH N.M,R, IR, U.V and Vis), magnetic. |
