Abstract This research presents an integrated ( analytical ) model for hole cleaning during drilling directional wells. The developed model consists of a set of equations for predicting the hole cleaning performance during directional drilling.The developed model can be used for studying the factors affecting the process of hole cleaning.These factors are:hole angle, drillpipe eccentricity, flow rate, rate of penetration, drilling fluid viscosity, yield point to plastic viscosity ratio, drilling fluid density, drilled cutting size and cutting slip velocity. The developed modle can be used to predict the mud flow rate required to remove, or prevent the formation of stationary cutting beds on the low-side of the wellbore in the deviated wells. |
