Abstract Sulphation products a- hydroxy fatty acida , esters , diols and alkanolamides a hydroxyl myristir , palmitic and stearic acids were prepared. These acida were converted to their methyl esters and then reduced with liAIH4 to the corresponding alkane 1,2-diols. The hydroxyl acids were reacted with mono, and diethanol amine to the corresponding fatty alkanolmides . Aseries oe sulphatiob products at the hydroxyl groups of a hydroxyl acids [ R-CH(OSO3Na) Co2Na], esters[ R-CH9OSO3Na)CO2CH3] and alkanolamides [ R- CH9OSO3Na)CoNHCH2CH2OSO3Na], [RCH9OSO3Na) – CON(CH2CH2OSO3Na)2] were prepared [R=12,14,16czrbon atoms) Also the alkane 1,2 –diols were sulphated [R-CH(OSO3Na)CH2-OSO3Na]. The surface active properties of these compounds were evaluated. They were very effective wetting and emulisifing agents in distilled water soluations. All esters(IIa-c) and diols (IIIa-c) are atable to hydrolysis hence, they might be utilized in acidic media. Also,All the alkanolamides (Iva-c , Va-c) have good or excellent wetting properties, so that , they can be used as wetting agents. |
