Abstract

The aim of this study was the design, construction and testing of hole digger attached to a power tiller to conserve the environment. The results can be summarized as follows:
-The maximum production rate with cleaning of 57 hole/hr was obtained with auger speed of 200 rpm, hole diameter 15 cm, hole depth 20 cm, hole spacing 1 m and sandy soil. The production rate of sandy soil increased by 11 and 40 % with soil cleaning as compared to sandy loamy and loamy soils respectively.
-The penetration resistance of loamy soil increased by 41.6 and 54.1 % as compared to sandy loamy and sandy soil respectively.
-The fuel consumption increased in loamy soil as compared to sandy loamy and sandy soil by 7.2 and 11.1 % respectively.
