Abstract This thesis presents the computed transient perFormance or both high speed moving coil relays and static relays generally used in protective schemes for power systems further the transient performance of moving coil relays as compared with electromagnetic attraction and induction types is presented the bases of computation as well as the computer programs are also presented moreover proposals are presented to minimize. The undesirable perfofawe of protective relays under transient conditions the use of linear current transformers or linear couplers which have smaller time constants of the order of 100 10 500 m5 is investigated 14 is recohwndfd to use linear couplers in conjunction with the high speed protective relays instead of conventional protective current transformers in most cases. |
