Abstract This work was carried out to study tube building. Axi symmetric deformation in metal forming processes and theories of plasticity were studied. An expression of the pressure required at any stage of circuferentially uniform tube bulging process was obtained. Experimentsal work was carried out to see to wehat extent the theoretical results agree with the experimental results. For this purpose, experments were performed on brass and aluminium thin walled tubes of different diameters, different thickness to radius ratios and different expansion ratios. Experimental results showed that the pressures determined by the theoretical expression agree reasonably with experiments for tubes having small values of thickness to radius ratio. In this work rubber was used as a pressurizing medium and it gave good results up to a pressure of 560 Kp/cm2. |
