Egyptian a g r i c u l t u r e e~tersa rlew age of mechanical technology by the change ir? the source or” power and farm implements. C. agriculture during the period 1553-1573. C3apter 1 includes other topics suchas: the density of farm mechanization the countryJ s rsgiom an5 governates-the country’ s needs f roui d i f f e r e n t types of f a r m rnachinary to reach a moderate level of farm nechanization- Public and private expenditures on farm mechanization pograms . Chapter 2 outlines the primary e f f e c t s of mechanizat i o n on farm practices and output, and its inpact on costs of production of f i e l d crops. Results of cost analysis Tor thc three iicld crops i n We two t?ipes of farms provide an evidence f o r thc impact of mechanization on costs and supplies of fielu crops, The data used i n the estimation of cost functions ars drawn from farm records i n the two regions for two years 197% and 1575# Several algebraic equation forms are used i n derving the cost functions, and most efficient ones were selected t o express and pr edi c t the r e l a t ionships bctw~~cons t s and output per feddan of each of the three f i e l d crops under the twcl levels of farm mechanization, For cach of the threc f i e l d I crops the optimum and inaxinum p r o f i t levels of output in both types of farms are estimateds In addition the shortrun suppl:J functions are derived for each of the three crops in both types of farms.
