Abstract
The experiments were c a r r i e d out on ~weet pepper during t h e w i n t e r seasons of 1987/1988 and 1984/1990 i n t h e Experimental farm of Faculty of A g r i c u l t u r e ,Kzfr El-Sheikh . The main o b j e c t i v e of t h i s r e s e a r c h was t o study t h e e f f e c t of some cover t r e a t m e n t s ( s i n g l e and double covers)and Borne growth substances(50 ppm LA3, 50 ppm IAA, 1000 pps CCC and contro1)on - sweet pepper cv. C a l i f o r n i a Wonder. The txatments were a r r - anged i n a s p l i t - p l o t design with f o u r rezlications. The covers t r e a t m e n t s were assigned i n t h e main p l o t s and growth substances were randomly d i s t r i b u t e d i n t h e s u b p l o t s . The a r e a of sub-plot was 5 m2 i n b o t h s e a s o n s . Pepper seeds were sown i n t h e s e e d l i n g t r a y s f i l l e d with mi x t u r e of t h e loam- sand-peat (1:l:l) on t h e 2 6-t h of August. The s e e d l i n g s were t r a n s p l a n t e d on t h e .1 ’3-th of Octob~ra t a-densitq of f i v e p l a n t s / m2 i n b o t h s e a s o n s . T~pEe p p e r p l a n t s were s p r a y e d w i t h GAY IRA , CCC and c o n t r o l ( s p r a y w i t h d i s t i l l e d water) t o t h e run-off a t .21 days a f t e r t r a n s p l a n t i n g . The experiments were conducted i n s i d e unheated p l a s t i c t u n n e l s which were s e m i - c i r c u l a r p r o f i l e s t r u c t u r e s with a framework o f r i g i d steel (19 mrn i n diameter) and c l a d with s i n g l e or d o u b l e p o l y e t h y l e n e covers (5 m width,^ m heightand 22 m l e n g t h )
