Abstract In Egypt, there is a great shortage i n foods avaible for both animals and poultry. Many zttempts me carrying out now for a l l e v i a t i n g t h i s shortage. Introducing some new sources of foods is consider one of the useful suggestions for solving t h i s problem. Several investigations indiczted that poultry littez had a considercble amounts of nutzients, it could be reg~rded therefore, as a potential foodstuff specially for rurilinents . This work was conducted a t Sakha Experimental Stat ion, Animal Production Reseorch I n s t i t u t e t o study the chemical composition, n u t r i t i v e value of poultry l i t t e r and effect of l i t t e r feeding on milk yield, milk composition , efficiency of feed u t i l i z a t i o n and costs. The effect of l i t t e r feeding on nitrogen metabolism i n the rumen was also studied . T-vvelve l a c t a t i n g Zriesian cows were used i n a feeding t r i a l of 3-treatments Swit ch-back coaplcte design. The experiinent included three periods of 28 days i n ezch. The f i r s t 14 days was regarded as a preliminary period and were not included i n the r e s u l t s. |
