Abstract Corrosion is a problem that threatens the life of the validity of the metal for use and understanding of mechanical corrosion we can find a solution to the problems of corrosion current and prevent future problems, That’s a thesis discusses corrosion of carbon steel in hydrochloric acid and how to protect it. Discussed the chemical structure of thioureacompounds and their impact on the efficiency of inhibition of carbon steel in 2 Molar of hydrochloric acid, it was noted that the efficiency of inhibition of compounds depends on the stereochemistry for compounds and active centers located in the compounds that determine the electronic density on the surface of carbon steel as well as the polarimpact of substitution groups. It was studies using the following methods: (polarization potentiodynamic and Electrical Impedance) Also some of the values were calculated using quantum applications. The results showed that the compounds used work as ainhibitors for both anodic and cathodic process. It was found that the adsorption of these compounds follows isothermTemkin. By increasing the temperature increases the rate of corrosion this indicating that the type of adsorption is the physical adsorption ,also been calculated for some thermodynamic functions. Cooperative effect has been studied for potassium iodide and Thiocyanate and Bromide. In summary, the electric polarization measurements supports the assumptions are that the inhibition of corrosion inhibitors by adsorption on the surface of carbon steel and the agreement between the means of measurements in order of efficiency of different inhibitors ,this indicates that the correct results was obtained. |
