المستخلص The livestock subsector is a major potential contributor to the national economy. It plays an important role in Egyptian agricultural economy. This fact is reflected in its importance in the agricultural national income, where it presents about 26.17% of the total real value of animal production. This dissertation is a study of factors affecting on consumption of meat. It is divided into two major parts. First, the importance of animal products and dairy products in the Egyptian economy. Second, marketing of meat in the Arab republic of Egypt. Meat production in Egypt depends on cows, buffalows, camels, sheep, goats, and pigs. Cows and buffalows are considered the most important source for producing meat in Egypt. On the contrary, the importance of camels, sheep goats and pigs in producing meat is largely limited. Throughut out the study, it revealed that number of buffalows and cows available in Egyptian agriculture in 1968 was 1.943 million unit, and about 2.347 million unit in 1981. Buffalows available in Egyptian agriculture in 1968 was 2.058 million unit, and about 1.85 million unit in 1981. On contrary, number of camels and pigs were subject to a continuous reduction for the whole period. |
