Abstract This thesis is mainly concerned with an experimental study of the variation of the thermal diffusion ratio kT and the thermal diffusion factor T with temperature for binary gas mixtures. The gas mixtures chosen are H2 - C2H5Cl and H2 - CH4. The two bulb method was adopted for this study. The hot side was a cylindrical silica glass bulb surrounded by an electrically heated and controlled furnace. The cold side was the Katharometer. Measurements, carried out for H2 - C2H5Cl mixtures, covering the temperature range from 300k to 1200k and for H2-CH4 mixtures covering the temperature range from 300k to 1100k. |
