Abstract Preparation of new series of [1,3,4]thiadiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidines, [1,3,4]thiadia- zolo[2,3-b]quinazolines and pyrimido[4,5-b]quinolines to be tested for antitumor activity. The structures of the newly prepared compounds were determined by microanalysis and some of them were studied by IR, mass and 1H-NMR spectra. Some of the newly synthesized final compounds have been subjected to DNA-binding assay and methyl green/DNA displacement assay. Also, some of these compounds were screened for in vitro antitumor activity against breast cancer (MCF-7) cells in comparison with doxorubicin as a reference antitumor agent. The results indicated that some of the tested compounds have DNA-binding affinity and antitumor activity against the selected cancer cell line. |
