Abstract
Changes of colour are observed with the growth of a film of a dielectric material on a glass substrate. This phenomenon has been studied quantitatively for thin films of magnesium fluoride and zinc sulphide on a glass substrates. The colour prpperties of each film were calculated from the transmittance spectrum by calculating the XYZ trisimulus values.
