Abstract In the current study twenty three isolates of different species of dermatophytes were studied for their enzym-atic activities. The tested dermatophytes were: Microsporum canis (11 strains), Trichophytoon schoenleinii (6 strains), T.verrucosum (3 strains), T.mentagrophytes (2 strains) and one strains of T.rubrum, which were isolated from cases of dermatomycosis in humans and animals. Agroup of biochemical tests were performed on soild and liquid media at different temperature and periods of incubation. For the detection of urease enzyme, chisternses’s urea agar medium was used the strains were cultivated and incubated at 25 C. Examination was daily to observe. The change in the colour of the indicator. It was found that the strains of the same species vary in the period required to hydrolyse urea. |
