Abstract The energy costs are a much discussed factor in yarn manufacture and will remain so in the future. This because of constantly rising energy costs and power demands. This work aimed to investigate the energy consumption in two -for-one twisting machine as well as the effect of factors involved in the processes. Spindle speed, yarn count, winding speed, feed-package diameter and finish application are the factors expected to affect yarn tens- ion and consequently power requirements. In this work the total power requirements in two-for-one twisting machine was analyzed into eight components under two main headings, no-load power and processing power. The measurements in this work are divided into two parts, one in industry and the other on the test set-up in the laboratory. Measurements in Industry : These measurements were carried out in El-Nasr For Wool and selected Textiles ”STIA”. The no-load power of ”Savio” two-for-one twisting machines and processing power were measured. The effect of finish application on the energy consumption was observed. Also some measurements of power requirements in ring twisting machine were carried out. |
