Abstract The present study targetted 2 health problems ; diarrhoea and ARI among chi ldren under 5 years of age in Dakahlia Governorate • where a total sample of 4458 children was taken from 3 districts ( Mansoura.Mit Ghamr and Dekernis ) selected randomly and then the sample size was distributed among the 3 districts according to probability proportional to population size. from the present study it was found that the overall prevalence rates of diarrhoea and ARI in the 2 weeks preceding the survey were ( 23.6 % and 29.7 % respectively). While. the overall prevalences in last 24 hours preceding the survey were 8.7 % and 16.4 % for diarrhoea and ARI respectively. Also. it was found that the prevalence of diarrhoea was signif icantly higher among rural than urban chi ldren. whiLe the prevalence of ARI was insignificantly higher among urban than rural children . Moreover. it was found that the highest prevalence of diarrhoea was encountered during summer. whi Ie the highest preva I ence of ARI was encountered during winter and these differences were statistically significant. |
