Abstract The host defense against invading microorganisms complex interplay of cellular and humoral facrs in which polymorphnuclear leucocytes with their agocytic capabilities playa major role. The lymphotes are the key cells of immune system, they are diffentiated into T-cells which mediate the cellular une response, and B-cells which are capable of poducing immunoglobulins. The aim of this work is to study the profile of immunological changes in patients with acute postfective polyradiculoneuritis (Guillain-Barre syndrome), ultiple sclerosis and transverse myelitis as the exact etiology of these diseases are not well known and the autoimmune theory has been suggested. This work included 30 patients, their age ranged 62 years, 3 females and 27 males, in addition control of matched age and sex. To all cases, complete neurological assessment, laboratory investigations including the phagocytic activity of neutrophils, T and B lymphocytes, serum immunoglobulins immunoglobulins. |
