Abstract This studY was carried out on 48 mentdlY childern of the unclassifiable type (test qroup)and on 46 children of normal mentality (control group) as weLl. The age WaS ranging from 1.5-14 years old in the test group and 1-12 years old incontrol group. Test group cases were subjected to complete clinical examinations, measurment of hight, span, head circumference, fundus examination, x ray skull and determination of hearing acuity. Serum samples were taken from both test and control cases and were subjected for detection and estimation of HSV specific antibodoy (IgG) by Enzyme-Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ELISA) technique. In the test group the HSV antibOdY (igG) values were ranginy from 0.003 to 2.019 with a mean value of 1.140 +-0.628. 42 cases were seropositive (value >= 0.200) with a mean value of 1.295 + 0.499 and the remaining 6 cases were seronegative (value < 0.200) with a mean value of 0.052 ± 0.036. In the control group the HSV antibodY (IgG) values were ranging from 0.063 to 1.861 with a mean value of 1 .472 +- 0.381.45 cases were seropositive with amean valve. |
