Abstract Phosphoric acid, H3PO4, is second only to sulphuric acid in volume produced in the world. It is primarily used for the manufacture of phosphate salts, which are used in turn for detergents and fertilizers. The important of phosphoric acid purification is due to uses of phosphoric acid in many important industries related directly with planet, animal and humane body. The present work is aimed to study the removal of impurities from commercial phosphoric acid produced by wet process using some organic compounds and natural cellulose containing materials. The pretreatment of phosphoric acid by different clay types (WAC105E, factory, Aswan and ElHafafit clay) to remove different organic compounds in phosphoric acid. It is found that, WAC105E clay is the best clay, however for the economic reasons, the factory clay is used. The purification of commercial phosphoric acid with different types of different natural products as rice straw; wood powder and palm waste in different forms (washing, heat treated and alkali treated) and use it in purification of phosphoric acid. from the results it is clear that, all of these materials have slightly effect in purification of phosphoric acid (not more than 10.0 %). Silica compound with organic compound(SPAN) has a great effect on removal of impurities especially iron from phosphoric acid (80.0 %). The effect of organic compounds as (NTMP) in purification of phosphoric acid. The different factors affecting in purification of phosphoric acid by (NTMP) were studied and it is found that, (NTMP) has great effect in purification of phosphoric acid from impurities especially iron as the following: 70.0 % Fe, 20.0 % Cr, 20.0 % U and 20.0 % Al. |
