Abstract

This study was performed in the early detection cancer unit and included a group of 1550 patient of various complaints, ages and risk factors. The risk factors include: 500 multipara, 300 early marriage, 100 immunosuppressed women, 100 multiple marriages (multiple sexual partners), 300 genital infection (vaginal discharge), 200 steroid contraception users and smokers. All the women participating in this study were subjected to; careful history taking, good general, abdominal and local examination, cytological examination of the cervix, examination of the cervix by VIA (visual screening with 5% acetic acid), Colposcopic examination and biopsy under colposcopic guidance for histopathological examination. In this study, by cytological examination we found; 1240 cases with no CIN, 177 cases with CIN1 (LSIL) and 100 cases with CIN23 (HSIL). By colposcopic examination we found: 1312 cases with normal colposcopic appearance, 86 cases with LSIL and 75 cases with HSIL. By VIA we found about 199 VIA positive cases and 1351 VIA negative cases. With Histopathology which is the final diagnosis and is our reference diagnosis our result is: 57 cases are LSIL and 70 cases are HSIL. In this study we found that, the incidence of CIN is more in cases of multiple sexual partners, early marriage, immunosuppression and smoker women. The risk is low with steroid contraception usage. So, routine screening of all sexually active women is mandatory especially women at risk, to early diagnose and treat the cervical precancers, thus preventing cancer cervix.
