Abstract
The present study demonstrated biological changes in male rat liver induced daily by intraperitoneal injection of fractionated dose of cyanobacterial extract (35 Mg/Kg body weight) for 30 days. The cyanobacteria extract caused a significant elevation of serum ALT, AST, LDH, total bilirubin and ALP in addition to a significant decrease in serum & GT, total protein, albumin, globulin and A/G ratio. Al Also, the histochemical study showed a marked decrease in total Carbohydrate, glycogen, protein, DNA and RNA and the presence of collagen fibers around the central vein as a result of Cyanobacteria. Pathological and Ultrastructural of the hepatocytes included in situ necrosis of the nuclear, destruction of mitochondria, degranulation of rough ER and Golgi bodies. DDB was found to have a protective, curative, and regenerative actions on lever injury caused by cyanobacteria. In the group of animals treated with cyanobacteriun followed by DDB, the protective effect of DDB was less pronounced than that of simultaneous treatment with DDB and cyanobacteria.
