Abstract

The current research is an analytical study of selected translations by Ezzeldin Naguib. He produces 29 translated works from English into Arabic and 10 translated works from Arabic into English in two series The Greatest Adventures Ever and Tales from Everywhere. The study discusses the definition of children’s literature from different perspectives, explores the various features and characteristics of children’s literature, clarifies the relation with literary theory, and shows the significant role of text and context of children’s literature. The study points out the reader-response criticism. It also discusses the Psychoanalytic Criticism of children’s literature and examines the participation of intertextuality theory in this field. The study also illustrates various genres, such as animal stories, family stories, school stories, historical fiction, fables, poetry for children, and moral and instructive tales. It also seeks to cover the leading stages of children’s literature in different countries around the world. It also focuses on introducing translation studies, and the vital role of literary translation and clarifies the relation between literature and translation theories.
