“A metal artifact inspired by the symbols of the protection in ancient Egyptian civilization in the light of post-modernism.”
The current research dealt with the symbols of protection in the ancient Egyptian civilization. This research aimed to study these symbols and their connotations in the ancient Egyptian civilization, especially the symbols of protection, to employ the characteristics of these symbols to find contemporary experimental solutions suitable for designing metal crafts that combine originality and contemporaneity by taking advantage of post-modern arts thought in a way that is compatible with... Methods of forming metal work, and from the plastic visions of post-modern arts as a source for shaping metal work to find design solutions for contemporary plastic formulations derived from the aesthetic variables of the structural systems and heritage symbols in question, with surface and technical treatments and various formation methods to enrich the metal work. The research came in five chapters and the first chapter dealt with the topic of the research. The background of the research, its problem, objectives, hypotheses, importance, limits and method, then the technical terminology of the research and also includes related studies. The second chapter includes symbols of protection in ancient Egyptian civilization. The third chapter includes post-modern arts. The fourth chapter deals with an analytical study of selected works by Egyptian and foreign artists inspired by post-modern arts. The fifth is the researcher’s self-experimentation. The most important results of the research were finding various new formulations of symbols of protection in ancient Egyptian and diversifying the methods of surface treatments for the artifacts, which contributed to highlighting the beauty of the metal artifacts and their compatibility with post-modern arts.
