Abstract The studied stands were subjectively chosen to reflect a range of salinity levels. A total of 165 plant species pertaining to 117 genera from 36 different families were recorded in the 54 studied stands. It is notable that the families of high representation are Asteraceae (27 species), Poaceae (27 species), and Fabaceae (21 species). Most documented species were perennials (89 species), followed by annuals (76 species). The most prevalent life form observed in the study was therophytes (76 species). The chorological assessment revealed the abundance of several Mediterranean (113 species) and Saharo-Arabian (81 species) components either pure or penetrated other regions. |
