Abstract Oral contraceptive pills (OCP) are commonly used by women all over the world during their reproductive life. The use of OCP more than 1 year can cause significant changes in the posterior ocular segment. Therefore, we suggest that oct should be routinely performed for these women. Our study results showed that there was no statistically significant difference between two studied groups in terms of subfoveal choroidal thickness in both eyes. We also found that there is no statistically significant difference according to Retinal nerve fiber layer with a p-value >0.05 in boh eyes. According to the macular layer thickness ,we found that OCP group showed a slimmer macular thickness on those quadrants the superior inner, inferior inner, nasal inner and temporal outer quadrants (OD) with p value 0.045, 0.034, 0.037 and 0.042 respectivelly and a slimmer foveal center area (OS) with p value 0.019. According to the inner plexiform layer thickness in both eyes there was no statistically significant difference with a p .valu >0.05 in all quadrants. In addition to that, we found the thickness of inferior nasal quadrant of ganglion cell layer (OD) was thinner in OCP group with a p value 0.004. |
