Abstract

nergy Harvesting is a method for extracting energy from external environmental
sources such as solar, wind, and heat source. The harvested energy is converted to
electrical energy and can be either stored in a battery or used directly. Depending
on the source type, the energy harvesting system components differ.
In fact, Photovoltaic Energy Harvesting is the most commercial established energy
harvesting type in which photons from solar light can be converted to electricity
by using solar photovoltaic (PV) cells. Solar photovoltaic (PV) cells play a major
role as natural, renewable energy sources. It is characterized by having nonlinear
photoelectric voltage and current characteristics. These properties depend on the
amount of solar radiation and temperature. PV can be used as an electrical charge
circuit. But due to the low efficiency of the resulting photoelectric power, it should
operate in conditions of maximum power point. There are several algorithms for
achieving this maximum power point condition which are called Maximum Power
Point Tracking (MPPT) Algorithms. Many maximum power point tracking
(MPPT) algorithms are employed to maximize the output power of the solar PV
by continually tracking its MPP conditions.
