Abstract
Although the transnational tendency has spread in several academic disciplines, the literary sector is just beginning to turn to it as a rooted theory capable of tracing the stages, factors, and consequences of poets’ influence by each other on a global level. This dissertation addresses the theory of Transnationalism as a viable critical and cultural theory, pointing to the ”transatlantic” influence of American Poets on their Irish counterparts. In addition, an examination and analyses of the reasons for the Atlantic migration of Irish poets to the United States, and the impact of this migration on their poetry is rigorously pursued. Likewise, this dissertation traces the American influence on Irish poets, starting from W. B. Yeats and his protégés to contemporary poets, presenting similarities, overlaps, and points of disagreement between their poetic works.
