Abstract
مستخلThis current investigation occurred at the Theriogenology Department farm of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Alexandria University. Semen was collected twice weekly by using four mature healthy Zaraibi bucks. The present study aimed to explain the effect of some antioxidants’ addition to buck semen extender during cooling preservation and compare them according to the measuring of some semen parameters.
Experimental Designs:
A. Experiment 1: the effect of adding different concentrations of LC on buck semen parameters at different times during cooling preservation.
Parameters measured:
Semen Parameters as motility, livability and cell membrane Integrity. They are measured at 0h, 1h, 2h,12h, 24h, 48h.
The Main Findings were:
- LC acts as a non-enzymatic exogenous anti-oxidant and the best concentration of LC to be added to buck semen extender during cooling preservation is 5ml mol/ 10 ml. This concentration gives a significantly higher result among the measured semen parameters than other concentrations and the control. LC works as a powerful antioxidant during the preservation of cooled semen, it improves motility and viability through 48 hr.
B. Experiment 2: the effect of adding different concentrations of ALA on buck semen parameters at different times during cooling preservation.
- ALA also is a powerful non-enzymatic endogenous anti-oxidant. The best concentration of ALA is 0.025 ml mol /1ml diluted semen, also it maintains motility, viability and plasma membrane integrity through 48 hr.
