Abstract

The thesis tackles the significant challenge of harmonizing urban renewal, heritage conservation, and community engagement for revitalizing heritage city centers. The absence of a guiding framework has led to fragmented efforts and conflicting interests among stakeholders, hindering the sustainable development of these cultural hubs.
This research endeavors to bridge this gap by proposing a comprehensive framework that encapsulates the diverse aspects of integrated urban renewal. Drawing upon the symbiotic relationship between heritage conservation and urban renewal, the study explores the potential synergies between these domains. It further investigates the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing heritage preservation and architectural identity within urban renewal initiatives.
Through a rigorous analysis of international urban renewal case studies, the study identifies successful strategies and lessons learned from transformative projects. These real-world examples enrich the proposed framework and provide practical insights for its implementation.
In conclusion, this thesis offers a comprehensive roadmap for integrated urban renewal, highlighting the critical role of architectural and urban identity reclamation. Through the proposed framework, urban planners and policymakers can navigate the intricate landscape of heritage city centers, nurturing their evolution while safeguarding their rich cultural tapestry.
