Abstract This study investigates the seismic response of reinforced concrete multi – storey building with one or multi- transfer floors with fixed height of building to focus on the effect of depth of the transfer system depending on the number of floors above, the best location of the transfer floor(s) and study the effect of change the shapes of the cores (C, Z and I shapes) and knowing the impact of the continuity or discontinuity of the building core. A parametric study was carried out by using the elastic linear response spectrum method to represent the earthquake loads by Etabs program. The study will show the behaviour of such structures under seismic load, and make a numerical evaluation for the analysis of the results of displacements, inter-storey drift, storey moment, shear distribution with different type of resistance system for lateral loads.
