Abstract Regarding NMS, the mean score of all NMSS Domains were statistically highly significant in the patients with ET than those of the controls (p= <0.001). NMSS total score mean was significantly higher in patients with ET (48.844 ± 23.915) compared to controls (10.938 ± 3.089) with (p= <0.001). Moreover, Patients with ET showed lower scores on all QoL sub-scales in comparison to controls (p=<0.001). Correlation analysis showed that depression and, anxiety showed no correlation with age, age of illness onset, illness duration nor with severity of tremor. Moreover, correlation analysis showed that NMSS total score is not correlated with age of the patients, age of illness, illness duration nor with severity of tremor except that age of the patients was positively correlated with GIT and Sexual domains. These results may provide support for the hypothesis that NMS in ET are inherent features of the disease rather than secondary phenomena. The severity of tremor is positively correlated with CVS, Perceptual Problems/Hallucinations, GIT and sexual domains. All QoL subdomains show no correlation with severity of tremor except for Fatigue, HC sub-domains are negatively correlated with severity of tremor. |
