Abstract Based on Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) technique and Self-Centering (SC) seismic resisting system, this study explored the recovery and resilience of Concrete Filled Double Skin Steel Tube (CFDST) bridge columns. The studied system is a rocking system with an external Energy Dissipation (ED) system or an internal energy dissipation system. A comparative study using analytical approach was conducted between the rocking system and the integrated system to illustrate the advantages and disadvantages of both systems. Using a three-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) analysis commercial program (ABAQUS 6.13-4), very detailed 3D FE models were created and validated against the experimental results of two columns tested under the effect of combined constant axial load and several excursions of lateral loadings. The numerical results show agreement with the experimental results through several results such as the hysteretic response and Post Tensioning (PT) cable’s force. |
