Abstract This study aimed at comparing between some species of genus astragalus L. (Fam. fabaceae) which grow through flora of Egypt and their correspondents from flora of Syria when being grown under local habitat conditions in order to detect the effect of habitat on plant characters of these plants. Studied species are as follows: A. annularis Forssk., A. boeticus L. and A. hamosus L.. A phytography was performed for the three studied species from seed sowing up to seed harvest through seasons of 2011 / 2012 and 2012 / 2013. The study included seed morphological, anatomical and physico - mechanical characters, germination tests, vegetative and reproductive growth characters, SEM, chemical and molecular characterization and numerical analysis of data to define similarity within each species and its correspondent from other flora to detect the effect of habitat variation on characters of studied species. No qualitative changes in plant characters of studied astragalus species were recorded in response of growing plants under various conditions of another flora. However, quantitative differences were observed |
