Abstract Internet of Things (IoT) is emerging as a promising paradigm to transform the way we live our life. The holistic notion of IoT is to connect, via the internet, the physical world using sensors and smart objects to the information world to allow for data processing, analysis, and decision making. IoT system typically involves heterogeneous technologies that interact with each other seamlessly. Assigning a unique address for each device/node in such a heterogeneous system can be very challenging. This is particularly true if it needs to be done in a fast and energy-efficient way. All currently existing addressing schemes haven{u2019}t support the heterogeneity of IoT devices. These addressing scheme have weakness in term of overhead and energy consumption. Accordingly, in this thesis, we propose a new addressing scheme, namely, the Clock Skew Addressing (CLOSA) scheme, that allows for assigning a unique IPv6 addresses to each node in the IoT network |
