Abstract In this study, sixty four samples were positive to Salmonella (23 isolates from broilers, 23 isolates from layers, 7 isolates from poultry feedstuffs, 2 isolates from chicken eggs and 6 from litter samples). Serotyping of isolated salmonellae were S. Typhimurium, S. Enteritidis, S. Kentucky, S.arizonae, S. Hydra, S. Anatum, S. Paratyphi A, S. Agona, S. Bloomsbury, S. Derby, S. Rubislaw, S.Senftenberg, S.Virchow and S.Cerro. Antimicrobial sensitivity test was performed. It was concluded that most of salmonellae were sensitive to Gentamycin, Amikacin, Tetracycline, Levofloxacin and Ceftriaxone in a percentage of 70.3%, 57.8%, 60.9%, 84.3% and 62.5%, respectively. Moreover, it showed moderate resistance to Tobramycin and Enrofloxacin in a percentage of 51.6% each. While, it showed high resistance to Ampicillin and Nalidixic acid with a percentage 84.4% and 68.6%, respectively. |
