Abstract Researches have led to the development of mobile communication models, standards, protocols, and design techniques. The main goal is to perfect the ongoing evolution of mobile technology. In the past few years, multiple mobile communication technology applications across a wide range of industries have been dramatically revolutionized to deliver more value at a lower cost. There will soon be a transition in the network industry from the fifth-generation network to the sixth-generation network. Currently, there are a large number of research papers concerning the sixth generation of wireless communications (6G). The majority of these works attempt to identify future applications and the types of services that could be implemented in 6G systems. Multiple-access edge computing (MEC) is poised to provide excellent advantages for Beyond 5G (B5G), and sixth-generation networks, reducing latency and bandwidth usage while providing end users with more services in real-time. In light of this, there was a motivation to conduct this research to discover more opportunities beyond the MEC. The research began by studying MEC’s ability to orchestrate the workloads of servers and control the distribution of computing tasks. This work proposed a cluster-based energy-aware task offloading model consisting of a dual-tier domain composed of clusters of Edge Servers (ESs). The goal was to make current mobile applications more responsive while simultaneously optimizing their energy consumption in order to improve their usability and effectiveness. This work is also focused on MEC content caching from a clustering angle and proposed the CMUMS (Cluster-based Multi-User Multi-Server) caching model as an approach to optimize the MEC content caching mechanism and ensure that highly popular tasks are distributed efficiently. Therefore, a higher direct hit rate is achieved, a lower indirect hit rate is achieved, and the overall time delay is reduced. |
