Abstract Was to evaluate the effect of combined High-intensity interval training and inspiratory muscle training as anti-remodeling therapy in managing permanent atrial fibrillation patients with chronic heart failure. Methods: Fifty male cardiac patients were recruited in this study from the National Heart Institute outpatient clinic and Ainshams University Hospital Cardiology Department and aged from 40 to 55 years old , with permanent atrial fibrillation and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and randomly divided into 2 equal groups, 1) study group (A) who received medical intervention plus High-intensity interval training and inspiratory muscle training. 2) control group (B) received medical intervention only. The study was conducted for 6 months for each patient, in Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit Ainshams University Hospitals. Results: There was a significant increase in EF, MIP, 6MWTD and MHR with percent of changes (-21.6, -36.7, -33.3 and -3.6)% respectively and a significant decrease in LVIDS,LVIDD,LAD and RHR with percent of changes (21.4, 14, 16.7, 10)% respectively. With significant improvement in 36 SHQOL (<0.001), all of that in favor of the study group in comparison to the control Conclusion: Combined exercise of HIIT with IMT leads to a significant improvement in the study groups (CHF with AF). Exercise – based rehabilitation for these patients should considered as a viable option to repeated resynchronization in the future |
