Abstract

The present investigation was carried out during two successive seasons of 2018 / 2019 and 2019 / 2020 on 15 years old date palm trees of Zaghloul cv. Palms are grow in sandy soils at private orchard at El-Behira governorate, Egypt. The research aimed to investigate the effect of nitrogen and potassium nano- fertilizers and nitrogen and potassium nano- fertilizers on yield and fruit quality of Zaghloul date palm trees. Two separated experiments was carried out to examine the efficiency of nano-fertilizers alone (1st experiment) or combined with organic fertilizer (2nd experiment) comparing with conventional mineral fertilizers. The treatments of the 1st experiment including application of nitrogen and potassium nano-fertilizer (NPK 15:0: 9) at four doses (75, 150, 300 and 600 g/palm/year) and the same doses were applied in the 2nd experiment plus organic fertilizer (40kg compost) comparing to the conventional mineral fertilizers as a control. The palm yield and fruit quality were significantly affected by fertilization treatments during both seasons. Treatment of 600g nano N. K / palm/ year, produced higher values of tree yield and bunch weight, flesh weight, fruit volume and fruit length in both seasons in the first experiment; similar results were obtained from trees fertilized with 600g nano-fertilizers plus 40 kg compost in the second experiment . Meanwhile, 1500 g (N) + 1000 g (K) / palm / year (control treatment) recorded the highest fruit weight in first experiment while treatment 600 g nano plus 40 kg compost recorded the highest fruit weight in second experiment. The obtained results also showed that the total soluble solids, reducing sugars, total sugars content and NPK content of fruit samples was significantly increased by nano-fertilizer treatment, (600g N.K) plus compost treatments. Whereas75 g N, K nano-fertilizers per palm gave the higher values of total tannins and total phenols contents in Zaghloul fruits in both seasons in first experiment and it recorded the highest value with organic 120 kg compost in second experiment.
