Abstract To evaluate the role of maternal and fetal ultrasound Doppler flow indices in post date pregnancy. Methods : This prospective study comprised low risk post date pregnant women. Participants underwent Doppler assessment including fetal middle cerebral artery (MCA), umbilical and uterine arteries. Perinatal outcomes were recorded and evaluated for possible associations with Doppler flow value. Primary outcomes : Apgar score at 5 minutes, neonatal admission to the NICU, emergency cesarean section due to abnormal intrapartum cardiotocogram. Results : In our study 134 patients met the inclusion criteria, complete data of Umbilical, Middle cerebral, Uterine arteries (right and left) P/I (pulsatility index) and R/I (resistant index) were collected in 28 patients. There was no adverse outcome in the studied group. Conclusion : The contribution of maternal and fetal Ultrasound Doppler to the prediction of adverse perinatal outcome in low risk post date pregnancy is low . Hence performing routine Doppler examination as part of past date pregnancy assessment is unlikely to yield significant clinical be |
