Abstract Study aims to investigate the corner column stability. checking (crippling, buckling…Etc.) of the European, the American and the Egyptian codes in addition to a comparison between these codes. Structural 3D models [consisting of column hinged supported, cantilever beam to welded to the column] have been established based on the finite element method (Solid Elements). A linear finite element analyses (FEA) have been performed using ANSYS software.Hot-rolled sections and built-up sections (BUS) with different material properties and different geometry properties have been checked. Also, with and without using stiffeners (with different lengths, widths, and thicknesses) to achieve the minimum dimensions requirement. Based on the results a new equation for crippling and bucklinghave been proposed for the ECP. |
