Abstract Intrabony defects is one of the characteristic complications associated with chronic periodontitis, which represent the anatomical sequelae to the apical spread of this inflammatory process. There are numerous treatment modalities have been applied to manage this intrabony defects; such as conventional treatment, using of systemic and local antimicrobial chemotherapy, surgical treatment and application of bioactive molecules to induce regeneration. Hyaluronic acid (HA) has been applied in the treatment of alveolar bony defects as it accelerates the periodontal wound healing and induces new bone formation in addition to its biocompatibility, anti-inflammatory and bacteriostatic properties. |
