Abstract The aim of the study is to estimate the unknown parameters the Gamma/Gompertz distribution by using different estimation methods based on different sampling techniques to select the units in the sample. These estimation methods are the maximum likelihood method and the Linear moments method. These sampling techniques are simple random sampling, ranked set sampling, median ranked set sampling, percentile ranked set sampling, and neoteric ranked set sampling methods. To find the most effective method, we compared all the mean square errors of the ordered sampling methods based on a simple random sampling technique. Two real data sets were used to evaluate the performance of the distribution by using the two estimation methods based on simple random sampling, ranked set sampling, median ranked set sampling, and percentile ranked set sampling methods. Finally, the estimation methods were compared to determine the best one for estimating the unknown parameters for the distribution |
