Abstract The magnitude of the problem of substance use disorders (SUD) in Egypt has been growing lately, both in the amount and severity of the substances used. SUDs have been associated with depression and suicide as well as impulsivity and specific personality traits. This study aimed at comparing suicide risk and its correlates between a random sample of 40 substance users and 40 controls.
